Felecia Humphreys, ApprenticeI was raised by electricians. I married an electrician. So I chose to go with the best. I like the steady work, although it’s a little slow now. I have a family, two sons, and the trade gives me the stability to raise them in a healthy manner.

The hardest thing is keeping up with the daily grind. But then again, I like the daily grind. Sometimes they push you a little bit too hard. I don’t know if it’s because I'm an apprentice or because I'm a woman, or whatever. So you leave work at the end of the day, shake it off, and you’re back the next day ready to go.

It can be tiring, but I love the challenge. It is not boring. It's not “another day, another dollar.” It's “Oh my gosh, what am I going to learn today.” I love it.
