Tina Staten, Painter I’ve worked as a painter 32 years. Look around, everything you see has a coat of paint. Painting is something you can make a living at your whole life. It’s about beauty and protection. I like the beauty, and the satisfaction of seeing the expression on a person’s face when they see a brand-new paint job. That is what keeps me going and gives me satisfaction. My favorite work is new work, apartments and condominiums. I don’t like the spray, spray, spray jobs. I love the brush and roller. I'm the trim queen. I can use a sprayer, but a sprayer is messy, very messy. For me, the brush is it. The trick to using a brush is having a soft touch, a soft feminine touch.
