Interns Take on the Building Trades
Organized Labor
August 2009
Jackie Zhu At this site Ive learned a lot about digging and sweeping and the work laborers do. Ive learned a few things about carpenters, how they put down underlayment and then put the flooring on top of that. Now when I see a floor, I know how it was made. I never thought about working in the building trades before. My father is a chef and my mom a homemaker. A teacher told me about a job over the summer, so I took advantage of it. Im not sure about the trades for a career; it depends on how things go in college. I could maybe see being a general contractor.
