Being a sheet metal worker, you get to go out every day and do new things. You get to work on different buildings and design different types of ductwork. I like making it all happen. A lot of times you come to a point where you have some really strange angles. Those are nice. Solving them is the real fun.
Grease ducts are particularly challenging. You have particular slopes and radius, and an access door so they can clean out the vent. They're just really different.
I'm doing 800 Market Street right now, which is one of the buildings that comes to a point. I did the Google building when Google came to San Francisco. I did three floors at 345 Spear, which are really big floors.
My father is a sheet metal worker. I love what I do. You have to get up early, but it's worth it. It's a great living.
