Union Action Stops SB 1391! The Privacy of Children and Families Protected Expressing concerns about the possible impact on children and potential loss of $1.4 Billion from the Federal Government, the Assembly Appropriations Committee today placed SB 1391 on the Assembly (graveyard) Suspense File without objection. The bill would open up juvenile Court proceedings to the public and press Leading the opposition were SEIU State Council and the National Association of Social Workers, California Chapter. In addition, the California Department of Finance(Governor's Office) has taken an "oppose" position on the bill. Local 535 Senior Field Representative Wren Bradley, staff and members throughout the state are to be commended for their work on this well intentioned, but flawed legislation. Look for updates on any changes on this bill.
