In Praise of Precinct Walking
December 2002
“Precinct walking is a real pleasure. You knock on somebody’s
door and even if the person who answers is not in favor of your candidate,
they appreciate you’re putting out the effort.
And that’s just regular precinct walking. When you do the labor
to labor, people are thrilled that someone from a union has come to talk
to them, even if it is not their union. The number of times you get invited
in to sit down and talk about the issues is surprising. People get you
bottled water, because they’re concerned that you’re out there
walking. All in all people tend to be very, very appreciative.”
